It is imperative to know the possibilities or outcomes you can achieve early in your journey when starting something new.

For this, you need to have a road map, and you want to see what others have achieved in a similar situation to you, where they have met similar challenges that you will encounter.
Referring to a grazing program, there are many of them out there, all of them with different names, but most of them are the same. What changes is only the name as there are only two styles of grazing in the world.
Selective grazing and Nonselective grazing.
There it is, I said it. It needed to be said, as even though all of those grazing programs favor selective grazing, they have changed the name of their programs and promise very good results when in truth selective grazing of unrecovered plants weakens their roots! Well, they are right on something; they do improve over continuous grazing, you see continuous grazing is the worst type of management for the plant and soil but gives good short-term results on individual animal performance, just as continuous grazing or set stocking, but please consider this: Good enough is enemy to best, yes good enough is the enemy of the best! Whenever we settle for good enough, better than we were doing but very distant from the best we stop improving, we stop getting better results. Why do I say this? Well, here is the thing, since it takes around 3-4 years for the negative consequences of selective grazing to become evident, stagnation of improvements in stocking rate, wider inter-plants spacings, shift to undesirable species, slow to nonexistent humus creation, most people are fascinated with those theories that say that by allowing livestock to graze selectively, somehow the land will regenerate. Because once we start doing ANY type of rotational grazing we start giving some rest to the other paddocks which helps a little, but if we want to get superior results we need to consider how plants grow, how humus is created, what type of management creates strong and deep roots of your best grasses and forage species, how you can get good quality grasses for your livestock in the green season and create a large área of stockpiled grass for your difficult seasons of the year: summer slump and winter, when should your cows give birth?, what type of grazing is best for optimal health in your livestock. If you do not KNOW these essential things you could be convinced that any type of rest period for your pasture is better than nothing without realizing that the correct recovery period, even at the very high stocking rates we need nowadays for profits is achievable and that a very high stocking rate is needed to improve your land faster.
This is why we need to start ANY grazing program by first KNOWING how humus or slow-cycling organic matter is created, as this will be what we want to increase, real fertility in our soil, and then we need to understand how plant physiology works out in the REAL WORLD, and stop following outdated and erroneous information.
This does not end there, we need to realize that nature always bats last, I am referring to Genetics, to Calving season, and nutrition when grazing. We need to understand these other 3 topics to be able to improve our land much faster and create real wealth for us and our families.
What is possible to achieve in your land by implementing the Total Grazing Program?

I am going to tell you about how your life will be when you implement the Real Wealth Ranching's four pillars.
On average, after only 2 years, starting with a degraded farm, that had degraded after many years of continuous grazing, which is usually what we all start with. In the first year, the starting year, it is normal to feed more hay as the land is degraded and pastures have little grass on them from the set stocking they were subjected to by the previous owner, but if you persevere in implementing the Total Grazing Program normally by the second year you can double the stocking rate while greatly saving on hay, on average and depending on where you live, you should feed less than one round bale of hay per animal unit for the whole year by feeding stockpiled grass or standing hay, by the second year your pastures should be teeming with seedlings of cool season annuals, ryegrass, vetch, and others. This means that when the stockpiled grass is finished you should be able to continue grazing those cool-season annuals which are growing on top of warm-season perennials like Bermuda grass and Bahía grass. Once Summer or hot weather starts, the warm-season perennials will take over after the cool-season annuals fade off due to the hot days.
Doubling the stocking rate by the second year while drastically reducing hay costs is a huge success because we know that the stocking rate determines profits on a farm while less hay fed saves money. When you divide your annual total costs between more animal units, the cost per animal unit per year is greatly lowered, leaving you a much higher yearly profit.
Another thing that could happen, depending on your soil seed bank is to start getting seedlings of perennial tall grass prairie grasses which are native and have much higher productivity and soil improvement, all this adds to biodiversity and resilience in your property.
These are amazing things you can also do on your farm or ranch, and the scale doesn’t matter, what is needed is passion and love, you need to love the land and nature to get these results!
You will be a happy man or woman, you and your family could live on the farm, and managing the farm with 4 moves of his herd per day is as easy as it can get, and if you need more time off you can start with one per day move and rest on the weekend, you will know your land is improving and you are saving much money on hay, you know you are doing all this without too much effort or spending on toxic poisons to put on the land or on the livestock meaning that the animal products you are producing are of higher quality plus any animal product produced this way helps to regenerate the environment of us all. You will feel deep satisfaction knowing you are helping by offering these healthier products to people and improving the land at the same time, you will be raising true regenerative products!
This goes far beyond improving your land and offering this healthy food for people, you are doing a great job helping to make the public aware of this way of managing the land with adapted livestock where they not only are efficient at converting solar energy to wholesome food but also improve the soil. How is this possible? Improving the fertility of the soil without any fertilizers? Well, it so happens that is nature’s way. In nature, vast numbers of herbivores pruned the grasslands periodically and then migrated to other places in search of green plants. By the time that it took, for them to walk hundreds of miles back after migrating, the grasslands had completely recovered and developed strong and deep roots so when the vast herds of different types of herbivores returned the grasses, legumes, and forbs had completely recovered from the severe grazing they were subjected when the herbivores were last there. In nature, the herbivores migrate due to a lack of feed and are kept bunched up by fear of predators. This is how nature works and it's what we try to mimic with the total grazing program which is an essential pillar of Real Wealth Ranching.
Once you start improving your land by utilizing plant physiology knowledge and knowing how slow-cycling organic matter or HUMUS is created and you use this knowledge to improve your soil's real fertility it is time for other considerations that are fully covered in the Total Grazing Program.
If you want to optimize what nature gives you, you need to have your livestock give birth when the grass is green and abundant. This is covered in the optimal birthing season pillar and includes many considerations for having success like the mother-newborn bond, which is essential for survival, and easy management.
Then, comes conversión efficiency of what you produce: grass, to what you sell, whatever that is. Pounds of beef, pounds of weaned calves or lambs, milk, it doesn’t matter, you want to be efficient in converting your grass to saleable products
Grass grows faster at certain times of the year, right? Then there are times when grass growth slows down or stops. This means that we should pair our livestock's higher nutritional requirements, almost double, at certain stages of their lives, to the months of the year when our farm or ranch naturally has abundant green grass and of high quality. This pillar of the optimal calving season has the potential to increase your stocking rate by 30 to 40 % while decreasing your labor or workload, and your supplement and hay costs.
And, let’s not forget we need to know a little about nutrition. How does the rumen of your livestock function when grazing?
When you understand that ruminants not only require protein, energy, and fiber but a balance or harmony between them, you will be able to take them to optimal health which is needed for best performance and conversión efficiency. By this I mean saleable animal products per ton of grass your land produces.

En cuanto al programa de pastoreo, hay muchos, todos con nombres diferentes, pero la mayoría son iguales, lo que cambia es solo el nombre ya que solo hay dos estilos de pastoreo en el mundo.
Pastoreo selectivo y pastoreo no selectivo. Ahí está, lo dije, y hacía falta decirlo, que si bien todos esos programas de pastoreo emplean el pastoreo selectivo, han cambiado el nombre de sus programas y prometen muy buenos resultados cuando en realidad el pastoreo selectivo de plantas no recuperadas debilita sus raíces. ! Bueno, en algo tienen razón; mejoran con respecto al pastoreo continuo, verás que el pastoreo continuo es el peor tipo de manejo para la planta y el suelo, pero da buenos resultados a corto plazo en el desempeno individual de los animales, al igual que el pastoreo continuo, pero considera esto: aquello qué es lo suficientemente bueno es enemigo de lo mejor, sí, ¡lo suficientemente bueno es enemigo de lo mejor! Porque una vez que comenzamos a hacer CUALQUIER tipo de pastoreo rotacional comenzamos a darle un poco de descanso a los otros potreros, lo que ayuda un poco, pero si queremos obtener resultados superiores debemos considerar cómo crecen las plantas, cómo se crea el humus o materia organica de ciclo lento, qué tipo de manejo crea raíces fuertes y profundas de tus mejores pastos y especies forrajeras, cómo puedes obtener pastos de buena calidad para tu ganado en la temporada verde y crear una gran área de pasto diferido para tus temporadas difíciles del año: bajo a nulo crecimiento del pasto en el verano e invierno, ¿cuándo deben parir tus vacas?, qué tipo de pastoreo es mejor para una salud óptima de tu ganado. Si no SABES estas cosas esenciales, podrías quedar convencido de que cualquier tipo de período de descanso para tus pastos es mejor que nada sin darte cuenta de que el período de recuperación correcto, incluso con las altas tasas de carga animal que necesitamos hoy en día para obtener rentabilidad, es alcanzable y que Se necesita una tasa de carga animal muy alta para mejorar tu tierra más rápidamente.
Es por eso que debemos comenzar CUALQUIER programa de pastoreo CONOCIENDO primero cómo se crea el humus o la materia orgánica de ciclo lento, ya que esto será lo que queremos aumentar, la fertilidad real de nuestro suelo, y luego debemos comprender cómo funciona la fisiología de las plantas. en el MUNDO REAL y dejar de seguir información obsoleta y errónea.
Esto no termina aqui, debemos darnos cuenta que la naturaleza siempre triunfa, me refiero a la Genética, a la época de partos y a la cómo funciona la nutrición en el pastoreo. Necesitamos entender estos otros 3 temas para poder mejorar nuestra tierra mucho más rápido y crear verdadera prosperidadl para nosotros y nuestras familias.

Esto es lo qué puedes lograr En promedio, después de sólo 2 años, comenzando con una finca degradada, que se había degradado después de muchos años de pastoreo continuo, que suele ser con lo que todos empezamos.

Esto significa que cuando se acabe el pasto diferido, podrás continuar pastoreando las mejores especies de plantas perennes.
El duplicar la carga animal para el segundo año y al mismo tiempo reducir drásticamente los costos del heno es un gran éxito porque sabemos que la carga animal determina la rentabilidad en una finca, mientras que usar menos heno ahorra dinero. Cuando divides tus costos totales anuales entre más unidades animales, el costo por unidad animal por año se reduce considerablemente, lo que te deja una ganancia anual mucho mayor.
Otra cosa que podría suceder, dependiendo de tu banco de semillas en el suelo, es comenzar a obtener plántulas de pastos altos perennes nativos que tienen mayor productividad y mejora del suelo mucho mayor, todo esto se suma a la biodiversidad y la resiliencia de tu propiedad.
Estas son cosas increíbles que también puedes hacer en tu finca, y la escala no importa, lo que se necesita es pasión y amor, ¡tienes que amar la tierra y a la naturaleza para obtener estos resultados!
Serás un hombre o una mujer feliz, tú y tu familia podrían vivir en la finca, y manejar la finca con 4 cambios de tu rebaño por día es de lo más fácil, y si necesitas más tiempo libre puedes comenzar con un cambio por día y descansar el fin de semana, sabrás que tu tierra está mejorando y estás ahorrando mucho dinero en heno, sabes que estás haciendo todo esto sin demasiado esfuerzo ni gastando plata en venenos tóxicos en la tierra o en el Ganado, lo que significa que los productos animales que produces son de mayor calidad y, además, cualquier producto animal producido de esta manera ayuda a regenerar el medio ambiente de todos nosotros. Sentirás una profunda satisfacción al saber que estás ayudando al ofrecer estos productos más saludables a las personas y mejorando la tierra al mismo tiempo, ¡estarás produciendo verdaderos productos regenerativos!
Esto va mucho más allá de mejorar tus tierras y ofrecer este alimento saludable a las personas, estás haciendo un gran trabajo ayudando a concientizar a la ciudadanía sobre esta forma de gestionar el ambiente con ganado de genetica adaptada donde no sólo son eficientes a la hora de convertir la energía solar en alimentos saludables sino también en mejorar el suelo. ¿Cómo es esto posible? ¿Mejorar la fertilidad del suelo sin fertilizantes? Bueno, resulta que ese es el camino de la naturaleza. En la naturaleza, un gran número de herbívoros podaban los pastizales periódicamente y luego migraban a otros lugares en busca de plantas verdes. En el tiempo que les tomó caminar cientos de millas de regreso, después de migrar, los pastizales se habían recuperado por completo y desarrollaron raíces fuertes y profundas, de modo que cuando las grandes manadas de diferentes tipos de herbívoros regresaron, los pastos, leguminosas y hierbas se habían recuperado por completo del pastoreo severo al que fueron sometidos la última vez que los herbívoros de diversos tipos estuvieron allí. Este pilar de la temporada óptima de parto tiene el potencial de aumentar tu tasa de carga animal entre un 30 y un 40 % mientras disminuye tu mano de obra o carga de trabajo y tus costos de suplementos y heno.
Y no olvidemos que necesitamos saber un poco sobre nutrición. ¿Cómo funciona el rumen de tu ganado cuando pasta?
Cuando comprendas que los rumiantes no sólo requieren proteínas, energía y fibra sino un equilibrio o armonía entre ellas, podrás llevarlos a la salud óptima necesaria para un mejor desempeno y eficiencia de conversión. Crees qué primero debemos enfocarnos en lograr salud óptima en nuestro ganado? ¿Estás de acuerdo conmigo? Luego viene el mejor desempeño animal y LUEGO una buena eficiencia de conversión. Con esto me refiero a productos animales vendibles por tonelada de pasto que produce tu tierra.
Estamos regenerando la tierra, nuestro ganado y nuestras vidas. Necesitamos ganar dinero para ser verdaderamente prosperos, no sólo se necesita dinero para comprar cosas que necesitamos o queremos, sino que el dinero es una manera de ponerle valor a algo y estamos haciendo un trabajo sumamente valioso; ¡Mejorando el medio ambiente para el bien de todos!
Pero, sin un profundo sentido de logro y sin saber que estamos ayudando a los demás, queda un vacío en nuestras almas, y podemos terminar siendo esclavos del dinero y sabemos que el amor al dinero es la raíz de todos los males.
